Civil Liberties Organization Commends Ini Ememobong Foundation

The Akwa Ibom State Branch of the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has commended the Ini Ememobong Foundation for the succour it is affording the citizens of Nigeria in Akwa Ibom State in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking while receiving the Chairman and members of the Foundation on Tuesday, 31st March, 2020, in his office, the Chairman of CLO, Otuekong Franklyn Isong, commended the Chairman of Ini Ememobong Foundation, Comrade Ini Ememobong, for reaching out to educate and enlighten the people at the nooks and crannies of the State on the COVID-19 pandemic as well as sharing preventive equipment, including hand sanitizers and face masks and also distributing food items to the people.

The CLO Chairman noted that he was deeply touched by the kind dispositions of Comrade Ini Ememobong and his foundation. Comrade Isong who called on all the appointees of Governor Udom Emmanuel including the Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Personal Assistants to emulate Ini Ememobong Foundation, also urged the National Assembly members from the state, the House of Assembly members, the local government council Chairmen, Councilors, and other political officeholders at the federal, State and local government levels and other well-placed individuals, to emulate the humanitarian gestures of Ini Ememobong foundation in the fight against the pandemic.

The CLO boss expressed the willingness of the human rights group to partner with the Ini Ememobong Foundation in combating the COVID-19 pandemic in the State.

Earlier, in his speech, the Chairman of Ini Ememobong Foundation, Comrade Ini Ememobong, thanked the CLO for receiving him and members of his team. He said his intervention is actuated by purely altruistic reasons as the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, if not nipped in the bud, has the capacity to annihilate the entire human race.

He said that for him and his foundation, the COVID-19 pandemic is a threat to the territorial integrity of Nigeria, hence his resolve to fight the scourge with all available resources at his disposal. He used the opportunity of the visit to donate some hand sanitizers to the CLO. On hand to receive the Chairman of Ini Ememobong Foundation and his team on behalf of the CLO were the Chairman, Otuekong Franklyn Isong; the Vice Chairman, Comrade Nsemeke Udoakpan; the Secretary, Comrade (Barr.) Christopher Ekpo; Comrade (Barr.) Eyibio Okon, and Comrade (Dr.) Uko Uwak.
