AKSG, Ini Ememobong Foundation Other Partners, Begin Fumigation of Eket Township.
The Akwa Ibom State Government in partnership with The Ini Ememobong Foundation, Hensek Integrated Services Limited, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path Initiative, earlier today embarked on the decontamination of public places in Eket Local Government Area.
The Decontamination exercise which is done by the Akwa Ibom State Government through Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency, AKSEPWMA, in collaboration with its various partners will see the government fumigating Markets, Parks, Hospitals, Churches, Hospitality Outfits and Eket Local Government Council amongst other public places.
Addressing the press, the chairman of AKSEPWMA, Mr. Prince Ikim said the fumigation which is done in line with the World Health Organization, WHO, guidelines will be a continuous process until the war against the dreaded Pandemic is won.
He acknowledged the huge benefits the partnership has brought to the process.
“I thank our partners for this show of solidarity because it has made the entire process smooth. This is a time we all need to come together in contributing our quota in other to conquer this pandemic”.
On his part, the chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Hon. Frank Archibong, expressed gratitude and commended AKSEPWMA and its partners for undertaking the onerous task for the safety of the people of the area.
The chairman of The Ini Ememobong Foundation, Comrade Ini Ememobong who was also present, said that the decontamination became imperative to check transmission of the virus from public places to people’s homes.
In his words, “Collaborations at this point is what is needed most. The fight against this virus needs individual contributions that will eventually become a collective effort of all”.
Recall that the Ini Ememobong Foundation had carried out decontamination of major markets and abattoir in Uyo.
